Dr Peter Baumgartner grew up in South Africa and achieved his medical degree from the world renowned University of Cape Town in 1995. He worked as a junior doctor in the Johannesburg area including at Baragwanath Hospital. In 1997 he moved to the UK and spent the next 8 years training in anaesthesia achieving his Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthesia (London) in 2001 and was appointed as a consultant in Warwick, UK in 2005.

During a year of specialist training at Royal Perth Hospital, Dr Baumgartner fell in love with Perth and realised that WA was the place he wanted to raise his young family. He was appointed at Joondalup Health Campus in 2006 and Royal Perth Hospital in 2008. He continues to work across the public and private hospitals in Perth.

Dr Siew Ting Chin completed her medical training in Scotland, UK at the University of Glasgow in 2005. Dr. Siew Ting Chin then furthered her training in New Zealand and completed her fellowship in Anaesthesia in 2015 here in Western Australia. Dr. Chin has since been working as a Consultant Anaesthetist in Joondalup Health Campus with both public and private patients.

Dr Enzor graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine, University of London in 2004. He undertook training in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in the NHS prior to moving to Australia where he worked in Aeromedical Retrieval medicine for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Western Operations.

Dr Julia Galatis was educated and also completed her initial medical training in South Africa. Dr Laura Hamilton graduated from The University Of Sheffield in the UK in 2006. After commencing anaesthesia training in the UK, and six years working for the NHS, Dr Hamilton moved to Western Australia to gain further experience in Intensive Care Medicine at Fremantle Hospital and Aeromedical Retrieval with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, WA. Dr Hamilton completed her anaesthesia training in Western Australia, rotating through all of Perth’s major tertiary teaching hospitals.
During advanced anaesthesia training Dr Hamilton undertook a simulation fellowship at Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospitals. Dr Hamilton was awarded Fellowship of Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2022. In addition, she holds a postgraduate diploma in Perioperative Medicine from University College London and has completed the ANZCA educator’s course.

Dr Hillyard, graduated from the University of Southampton in the UK, in 2000. After initially training in Internal and Intensive Care Medicine, and gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2004, he switched careers to Anaesthesia. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2008 and completed Specialist Training, based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London in 2012.

During Advanced Training, he undertook a Research Fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital, which led to a permanent move to Western Australia and Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2013. He now works as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospitals and is accredited as a Specialist Anaesthetist at many of Perth’s private hospitals.

Dr Hillyard has a depth of experience and current practice in anaesthesia and sedation for a wide range of specialities. Dr Steve Hilmi works as a Consultant Specialist Anaesthetist in Private Practice. He has travelled to Africa a number of times in recent years to donate his professional services to the Tanzanian community.

Dr Claire Hinton completed her initial medical training in South Australia before moving to Western Australia where she completed her Specialist Anaesthetic qualifications in 2013.

Professional Interests
Dr Hinton’s main interests are in high-risk obstetrics, emergency management of anaesthetic crises, regional anaesthesia (including peri-orbital techniques), orthopaedic/vascular/robotic/ENT surgery and paediatric anaesthesia for children down to 12 months old.

During her training, Dr Hinton completed two fellowships. One in perioperative echocardiography and the other in obstetric anaesthesia at King Edward Memorial Hospital. She has been published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia and teaches fellow anaesthetists echocardiography at Fiona Stanley Hospital and iHeartScan in Melbourne.

Dr David Hoppe completed his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery at the University of Western Australia in 2005. Upon completing internship at Fremantle Hospital, he transferred interstate to Sydney, where he completed a residency at St. Vincents Hospital in Darlinghurst. He returned to Perth to commence Anaesthesia specialty training in 2008 and was admitted as a Fellow to the College of Australia and New Zealand in 2014.

Dr Jervis completed his training at the University of Western Australia and rotated through Perth's major teaching hospitals to obtain fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Dr Jervis underwent further sub-specialty anaesthesia training in difficult airway management and obstetric anaesthesia at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada.

Dr Jervis works as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and plays an active role in supervising and training anaesthesia registrars, residents and medical students. His major non-clinical interests in the public sector include medical education and staff wellbeing. Dr Jervis has presented research at both local and international conferences and is actively involved in continued professional development.

Dr Rebecca Kelly completed her medical degree at Monash University, Melbourne and subsequently qualified as a specialist in Anaesthesia by way of the Western Australian training program. She has completed fellowships in regional anaesthesia, medical simulation and education.

Dr Kelly has particular interests in acute pain management and regional techniques for a range of surgical sub-specialities, having completed a Masters in Medicine in pain management.

Dr Kelly currently works part time at Joondalup Health Campus in conjunction with private practice.

Dr Andrew Lovegrove is a Perth born and educated anaesthetist. Having finished medical school at the University of Western Australia, he joined the WA Anaesthetic training program completing the College Fellowship in 2005.

With time spent at Bunbury Regional Health Campus, post-fellowship training in complex obstetric anaesthesia care and more than decade in private anaesthesia practice in Perth, Dr Lovegrove has an appreciation of both anaesthetic and general healthcare needs throughout Western Australia.

Dr Ryan Maslen completed science and medical degrees at the University of Tasmania in 2009. Upon completing internship and residency at the Royal Hobart Hospital, he moved to Western Australia where he continued his training, rotating through all of Perth’s major tertiary teaching hospitals.

Dr Maslen completed a provisional fellowship in Aeromedical Retrieval with the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Western Australia and Difficult Airway management with Fiona Stanley Hospital. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2019. In addition, he holds a postgraduate certification in clinical education.

Dr Fiona McManus

Dr McManus attended the University of Western Australia to complete a Bachelor of Commerce degree before attending the University of Queensland to complete a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.

She undertook her specialist anaesthetic training in Perth and completed fellowships at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital Perth and the Royal Marsden Hospital London.

Dr McManus undertook basic residency appointments at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital where she also commenced basic surgical training. She then went on to gain experience in emergency medicine at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh and St Georges Hospital in London.

Upon returning to Perth, she commenced specialist anaesthetic training with rotations at all the major public hospitals.

She is currently a member of Southern Anaesthetics and works as a private anaesthetist at a number of hospitals in Perth.

Prabir graduated from Guys Kings and St Thomas Medical School, London in 2005. He completed dual specialist training at the Oxford School of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, before moving to Perth in 2015. He started working as a consultant anaesthetist in 2017.

Dr Gopal Rajan completed his medical training at the Manipal University in India in 1990. He underwent further training in Anaesthesia and Critical Medicine in Malaysia, obtaining his Masters in Anaesthesiology in 2000. He then worked as a consultant Anaesthetist until 2005 at the University Malaya Hospital.

Dr Eric Tai completed his medical training at the University of Western Australia and trained in Anaesthesia at Perth’s major teaching hospitals, obtaining his fellowship in anaesthesia in 2012.

Dr. Wuen Sze Tiong (Eda) graduated from the University of Western Australia (UWA) with Honours in 2012.

She subsequently completed her anaesthesia training in Western Australia in 2020. Eda then spent a year gaining further experience as a fellow at St. John of God Midland in Perth and Monash Medical Centre in Victoria. She has a special interest in Perioperative Medicine and Regional Anaesthesia.

She is accredited at most major metropolitan hospitals in Perth including St. John of God Murdoch, St. John of God Subiaco and Hollywood Private Hospital.

In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, cooking, baking and watching TV.

Dr van Riet grew up in the picturesque wine region of the Western Cape of South Africa and there he attended the renowned University of Stellenbosch and achieved his basic medical degree in 1995. By 2000 he had moved to New Zealand and worked in Internal Medicine for 3 years and after experience in a wide range of medical specialties he found his passion for Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia. He completed anaesthetic training between New Zealand and Australia with a special interest in Cardiac Anaesthesia and a fellowship in Aeromedical Retrieval. Finally by 2008 Dr van Riet settled in beautiful Western Australia with his family.

After having worked in most of the tertiary hospitals in WA he took a consultancy at Rockingham General Hospital and has maintained his balance between private and public medicine by staying active in most of the metropolitan private hospitals.
